Biagio Mastroianni

The illustrator, painter and printmaker Biagio Mastroianni was born in Lucerne (Switzerland) in 1969. After his education as a photolithographer he studied visual communication at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts and gaining a degree as an illustrator. Biagio works as an illustrator, painter and printmaker in Lucerne and London. His paintings, drawings, etchings and monoprints are shown in exhibitions in London, Italy, Norway and Switzerland. Moreover, he illustrates in publications like Horizon Magazine London, The Naked Punch Magazine, Neue Zürcher Zeitung, Weltwoche, for  the company Feltbrook Ltd. London and he coact to audiovisuals installations for theatre- and dance performances. Biagio is a parttime  teacher at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts.

Biagio has especially constructed a rich and fascinating narrative, exploring the mystical subtleties of the numerological systems of the Smorfia (In Naples people  etcwho are about to buy lottery tickets ask dream interpreters to convert all their experiences during the day and their dreams during the night into numbers) and juxtaxposing these into the stark, and harsh realities of London urban life.
